What Caused You To Like This Pairing?

Most people seem to like to pair Albel with Fayt but I just think he would fit best with Nel. I'm all for the love/hate type relationships and I'm also just not a big yaoi fan. But what drew you to this pairing?

What drew me to Alnel was all the hints that Albel liked her. That and the fact that I have a thing for relationships where one of them is reluctant to start one. And well, Nel would be reluctant to start one with Albel since they are from opposing sides.

I always like trying to figure out Pairings in shows... and well... Albel and Nel just... worked! After I noticed it, I started looking through the guide book and things just to see Albel's reaction towards Nel in certain cases. Despite being all moody and arrogant, you can't help but notice his fondness towards her.
That's the nice thing about writing AlNel fics. It ends up making them long.

This is me posting in a dead thread... XD

I got into the pairing because my shipper radar is infalliable and went off as soon as Albel was like "So you've heard of me?" when Nel recognized him really early in the game. There are so many hints he likes her... and then them being in the same room on the Diplo just about made me die of glee. S'all the proof I need. >>

Plus, his affection level is so high for her when the game starts out... and she can't stand him. It intrigued me.

I taught Albel Common Support Symbols yesterday, and he's always ready to heal Nel. Even when he's very low on HP, he'll heal her first even though he's in the danger zone and she's just slightly hurt.

What drew me to this pairing...

The way they acted around each other, their similar circumstances... It really seemed like he was fond of her. Especially the bit in Vanilla's house/lair/dwelling.

Albel: Bah... I told you this place was a waste of time. Fool.
Nel: I don't remember you saying that.
Albel: Me neither. **he closes eyes**
Nel: ...

*snicker* If anyone but Nel had said that, I doubt they would've gotten such a nice response. I can't believe people think they absolutely loath each other..

.. didn't sound hateful to me. He said it really calmly, and knowing about him and the loss of his arm, it really makes sense. Plus, the way Nel reacted, it must have been the first time he called her a fool.

Oooo.. and way before that..

Nel: How terrible.
Albel: Hmph.
Nel: Something wrong?
Albel: Do you realize how many dragons we've killed so far?
Nel: But we--!
Albel: 'We had no choice,' is what you were going to say, right? Either way you
look at it, there's really not much of a difference.

No insults.. just honesty... I really liked this scene too because it rang true.

In many cutscenes after refusing Peppita and getting Nel, they stand next to each other. And if they really hated each other, I doubt they would've shared such a small room in the Diplo...

If you watch Albel's interactions with other people, he's really rude and cruel, but is terribly nice to Nel in comparison.

Hmm, I can't really say...I think it has to do with the huge similarities in backgrounds that you can somehow connect together. Besides the Fayt/Sophia pairing, it also has a pretty solid background than can connect the two in a stable pairing.

Anyways, it may also be due to the love/hate relationship they share. Albel seems to dislike annoying, weak women, and Nel certainly isn't one of those. She's strong and can clearly take care of herself, giving Albel a reason to respect her as a worthy (female) opponent. They're from different countries but (again) share a similar background. They both put hatred aside to work together (even potentially share a room together).

I dunno...it's just...PERFECT! There's something about the two that just screams OTP! You can just feel it inbetween the two!
